Peninsula Hotel Kitchen

Chef Saverio (right) & the Restaurant's Floor Manager (left)

Every Hotel in the world has one. Every Hotel in the world could not operate without one. For some Hotels it can make or break them. The Kitchen.
The Kitchen is an essential part of any Hotel and it is so at the Peninsula Hotel. The Kitchen is run by the Executive Chef Saverio and under him a team that prepares, cooks, cleans under his expert guidance and tuition. The Executive Chef is in charge of a kitchen, responsible for recipe and menu creation, staff training, and overseeing all cooking. The chef also “manages” the staff involved in the preparation of food. The chef writes the menu, determines food cost and is in charge of purchasing.
The Peninsula Hotel is an 'all inclusive' Hotel and that means all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered to the guests. Chef Saverio has a job on his hand as guests come from all places in the world, are different ages, have different tastes and he ensures that there is a broad range of available food on the menus. No easy task.
We spent a few hours in the kitchen and watched as the Chef and his staff worked like clockwork to get all the meals ready on time and also clean up afterwards. All this was also supplemented by staff in the dining area which kept tables cleared and cleaned and helped guests with any questons they had, and this is supervised by the Restaurant 'Floor Manager' which includes managing staff who give services to customers and allocate the duties of opening and closing restaurant. The manager is responsible for making sure his or her staff is following the service standards and health and safety regulations. The manager is the most important person in the front-of-the-house environment, since it is up to him or her to motivate the staff and give them job satisfaction.
The Peninsula Hotel also offers non-hotel guests everyday an all-you-can-eat buffer starting at 19:00 (until 21:00) for only 15.00 Euros per person. Great value and with the Restaurant over looking the Agia Pelagia Bay, it has some of the best views around.

For more photos of the Staff and some of the wide range of food on offer, go to the Peninsula Hotel's Facebook page at www.PeninsulaHotelAgiaPelagia.info

Peninsula Hotel Sea Platform

What has to be one of the best locations at the Peninsula Hotel is its 'sea platform'. This large area, with sunbeds and umbrellas protrudes out into the Agia Pelagia Bay. From its edge the water is nice and deep, but there are also areas that are quite safe for children to use as it has a shallow depth.

It also has a great bar serving drinks and food for those who spend most of the day there so you don't have to take anything with you. No sand or other 'earthly' objects to cling to you as the platform is made of concrete and this is a major factor to some who don't want the hassle of washing after wards to get off sand etc when they leave.

You can get there three ways:
  1. Past the Peninsula Hotel reception area and walk down the path
  2. A car park near the shops and near to Psaromoura beach and walk down the path
  3. By boat
To see more photos of the Sea Platform, please go to the photo album section of the Peninsula Hotel's Facebook Fan Page at www.peninsulahotelagiapelagia.info

Hmm, wouldn't it be great to have a party there?

The Peninsula Hotel Chapel

There is a Chapel at the Peninsula Hotel in Agia Pelagia (Crete), that can be used for weddings, Christenings, etc and it is open all the time. It is a Greek Orthodox church and as you can see from the photos, the design is the typical for this type of church.

Peninsula Hotel Reception

The Reception Area as seen looking towards the front doors (above)

As in all Hotels, when you get there the first area you see and talk with the Staff of the Hotel in the Reception. As you enter through the doors you see quite a large area with the reception desk on the right which is staffed 24 hours by friendly members of the Hotel, who not only speak the local Greek language, but also English, French and others.
Reception Desk on the left (above)

For those weary travelers, you can lounge around on some great comfortable seats next to the reception desk or as some use them to plan their day while in Agia Pelagia. Near the front doors are information areas which display things to see and do in Agia Pelagia and the rest of Crete.
Reception Desk and Lounge Chairs & Table (above)

Internet access is either by wireless throughout this area or a short walk up the stairs to the 'internet corner' where you will find the latest computers connected via high speed broadband. At anytime while your on the internet, come and join the Peninsula Hotel's Facebook Fan Page.

This reception area is the hub of the Peninsula Hotel where you can go to your room, the restaurant, bar or to the pools outside. If you feeling like some sport they tennis equipment, pool cues & balls, and over sporting equipment are all found here at the reception desk. Of course any information you need about the Peninsula Hotel, Agia Pelagia or Crete and you can just ask the Staff behind the reception desk as they are always glad and eager to help. If your not staying at the Hotel, you can see the reception staff about the 'all you can eat' buffet for 15.00 Euros per person available 7 days a week (more on this great offer tomorrow in this Blog!).

Settemari Club at the Peninsula Hotel

Settemari Club

This month we have seen the Settemari Club come to the Peninsula Hotel to have a look at the Hotel's facilities, rooms, restaurant and other areas as they are interested in having their clients come to the hotel this season.
Each group has been welcomed by senior management and staff as well as 'welcome' drinks and snacks. After the snacks, drinks and a brief explanation, they were given an information pack and then guided around the hotel.
As the Peninsula Hotel is an 'all inclusive' hotel, the groups also stayed to partake in dinner and meet the Head Chef Saverio, who also happens to be Italian. Feedback has been positive and we are looking forward to visitors from Italy next season.
For more information on the Peninsula Hotel, please go to our web site at www.Peninsula.gr or our Facebook Fan Page at www.PeninsulaHotelAgiaPelagia.info or call us on +30 2810 811313.
